Marriott Bonvoy Hong Kong Rugby Sevens

Marriott Bonvoy Hong Kong Sevens is an annual, worldwide rugby tournament held in Hong Kong, China. Marriott Bonvoy hosted several suites in the HSBC stadium during the entire week (seven day) tournament as well as a music festival featuring Gwen Stefani, a VIP lounge and a 20x20 tent area for the general public of Hong Kong.
The challenge was to introduce the new Marriott Bonvoy brand to countries throughout the Asia Pacific and create buzz for the brand within four different activations throughout an entire week.
Activations
Harbourfront General Area
We designed a replica of a traditional fishing schooner that is common in Vietnam in the 20 x 20 area along the Harbourfront in Hong Kong. Wrapped from floor to ceiling of the tent was a picture of Ha Long Bay in Vietnam designed to immerse attendees with a feeling that transported them to this region. Along the dock or pathway to the ship, there were large displays with selected Marriott International luxury properties featured in the Asia Pacific region. This was a nod to the brand and a playful activation for families to learn more about Marriott Bonvoy.
Gwen Stefani Concert & VIP Lounge
The VIP Lounge was held at the Harbourfront the night of the Gwen Stefani concert in a large tented area. The VIP Lounge featured five varieties of Asia Pacific regional cuisines along with two bars, an outside lounge and many other brand worthy Marriott Bonvoy experiences.
Three-time GRAMMY® Award winner and global icon Gwen Stefani headlined the 2019 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Festival with a one-off show at the Central Harbourfront event space, presented by Marriott Bonvoy. The concert was held on Friday, April 5 and was the first time Stefani had performed in Hong Kong for more than a decade.
Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament Suites
Marriott had two suites in the stadium for the entire week of the tournament. We transformed those suites into VIP areas including meet and greets from celebrities including Sebastian Chabal and other famous rugby players. Also included was a massage area, full bar, f&b station, photo moment, face painting area and a create your own rugby jersey station. Each suite had a theme and a purpose with a nod to the overall theme of the entire project to bring brand awareness to the Asia Pac region.
